New rig - help with water cooling.

Postby Ferg » Fri Jan 08, 2010 3:20 am

Hi evereone,

I was looking for water cooling for long time, but I have mange with air in my current rig - on E8500 4Ghz never reach more then 60C on full load with OCCT, but I have doubts that my Prolimatech Megahalems will handle my coming i7 oveclocking.
I already received positive answer about shipping to Lithuania from Aquatunig, just waiting for more details about costs for that, because order for parts for me should go to German site. Now about the water cooling – because I complete new for water setups I want to ask you, anybody can help me with choose items for custom water cooling system ? That mean from beginning to the end – complete setup. Will be used Intel i7 920 CPU, and motherboard – ASUS P6TD Deluxe. I just require CPU cooling, for rest of components my Antec Three Hundred case is more then I was expecting . I do not planning go crazy with spend money for that – but I expecting that members of this forum will help me to have right parts with optimal prise and optimal performance. Because I have only one Optical drive in use, that mean – I would like to have cooling water reservoirs or some thing like that in empty case bays, Rest of components have to be small and compact, to fit inside case ( Antec 300 not I biggest case for that) .

I want to thank you in advance for the help,

Ferg.
P.s Sorry for not the best English language – but I don’t event tried go for the German one :)

Well, because looks that this forum is very quiet, I have try to collect components my self – If any body some time can check this setup
This is What I think up to now -
EK Water Blocks EK-Supreme LT Acetal universal (775/1156/1366) (Art.Nr.: 10209)
> 10 in stock 34,95 €*
Laing DDC-Pump 12V DDC-1RT/Plus with 2xG1/4-outer thread (Art.Nr.: 49017)
4 in stock 79,99 €*
What reservoirs I should to look for ? How abut this ?
Tecnofront "Eagle" 5.25 Reservoir
Product No.: 45200 45,99 €*

End last of looking base setup components – radiator, how big is should be ( case is quite small ) I believe one 1x120mm series are to small for descent cooling, what you will recommend for me ?

Thanks for help – hopefully some body will do that for me.

Hi Ferg.

Thanks for PM. Helping out is not a problem as we all need help at some point when it comes to building our first water cooled project. The first thing i need to point out is your case. Just looked up the Antec 300 and it does not seem to have a large enough Ventilation point for your radiator. So the first thing i would suggest is a change of case, you can take a look at the Silverstone TJ seires which you can find here http://www.silverstonetek.com/products/enclosure.php?area (select the Temjin series tab) Or the Coolermaster 932 or 922 here http://www.coolermaster.co.uk/product.php?category_id=18&product_id=5363. These cases offer a very good price to performance ratio and is recommended over using the Antec 300. If you decided you want to go ahead and change your case then post back and we can then look into water cooled components suited to your chosen case. If you decide you don't want to change the case again post back and we can then go on and look at the components you have listed in your post and see if they will be suitable for your Antec 300.

Thanks Fyew-jit-tiv – I just realize( Forgot, because is for may kids ) that I have another PC with much bigger case, Cooler Master Centurion 590. If I build up new rig with water cooling in there, I think should be OK ?, Can you check about that, and if this case is good - can you recommend me radiator and everything else, in the future I have plans add water cooling for new graphic card is well.

Big thanks.

This case will do for water cooling. What to your current budget for spending on your Water-cooling components.? In the diagram you have posted you have the flow going the wrong direction.
You want the flow to come from the Pump > Radiator > CPU > Reservoir > and then cycle again.

I think spending up to 250 Euro for everything, For the loop – I was reading in overclockers.uk, and they recommendations for that – pump, CPU, radiator , reservoir, pump – is that wrong ?, Right now for me most important to those right component for that, I really like reservoir in optical drive bay, but I have read a lot comments that is not practical. I will stick to you recommendations.
